A Broadway stage seen from the wings during a performance, red light and haze

A different view of the stage

From the wings, from the pit, from the room where it was rehearsed.

The arts

Theatre and music seen from the working side: a technical rehearsal watched from the stalls, the wings during a performance, the pit before the downbeat, and the company afterwards without a receiving line.

We advise on which nights are genuinely worth attending — and, more usefully, which are not.

Why New York

Broadway and the companies around it rehearse, replace and reinvent at a pace nowhere else sustains; the same title is a different show in March than it was in November.

Why KNOWN

The stage manager decides what is possible on a given night, so we ask them rather than the box office. It is also how we know which performance this month is the one worth seeing.

What it can include

  • 01House seats or a held box
  • 02Backstage or wings access where the production permits
  • 03A rehearsal or sound check visit
  • 04An introduction to a member of the company
  • 05Supper held after curtain

Illustrative, not a package. Every element is confirmed against the date, the party and what the partner can honour.

Good to know

  • Backstage access is at the production's discretion and confirmed close to the date.
  • Opening weeks and award season are the hardest asks.
  • Under-12s cannot go backstage at most houses.
